| Personal Riding Accomplishments: |
I started riding when I was 17. I have owned several motorcycles. I had my 1983 Honda 550cc Nighthawk the longest. In 9 years I put 78,000+ miles on it. It was the first year they put a driveshaft on it. (The 650cc and 750cc were still chain drive.) I also owned two Honda 750cc Nighthawks and loved them all. In 2003 I bought my Honda Shadow Spirit 1100cc. (VT1100 C) It has been a great bike. I am planning on getting a new one next year. I currently have over 26,000 miles on it and have never had a problem with it. |
| MSF Accomplishments: |
I took my most recent BRC class in February 2007. Charles B. and Jeff P. were my Coaches and they were TOTALLY AWESOME ! ! ! I was in the Rider Coach class that graduated April 29, 2007 at TLETA. (Donelson) I taught my first class ending July 1, 2007. It was a great experience. Randy L. was my C-1 and he was F A N T A S T I C ! ! ! Ken B. came out to "kick cones" and his assistance was invaluable. MSF and Mid Tenn are so fortunate to have such high caliber Coaches. It will always remind me where to set my standards. |
| Type of Motorcycling you enjoy: |
I enjoy all country roads. I enjoy Natchez Trace because besides "riding" you can always wander in the woods at the rest areas when taking a break. I have found caves and waterfalls as well as all the wildlife. WHAT A WAY TO RELAX! |
| Favorite Stretch of Road: |
Any country road will do! ! ! |
| Why
Did You Become a Rider Coach: |
I have worked in the Auto Industry since 1975. I have taught many classes while at General Motors and for the United Auto Workers. I have been a State Certified Volunteer Firefighter since 1995. I have taught Fire Safety classes in the schools since 1998. I enjoy teaching and LOVE to see people "grow" as they learn. In all my years of teaching I have learned to never underestimate your students! I rode with the Sloan's Group when I moved to Murfreesboro, TN. I met Kelly A. while riding on Sunday afternoons and she talked to me about the MSF program. I was on a rotating schedule and could not at the time. I included it in my "plan" for retirement. I was fortunate enough to retire December, 2006. In January 2007 when I registered for my latest BRC I found out Kelly's best kept secret. Mary Katheryn is her sister. Mary Katheryn is such a pleasure to talk to and is always willing to provide any support and assistance. I am looking forward to learning from my students as much as encouraging them through knowledge and experience so they can enjoy riding safely as long as I have. |
